This painting has quite the story behind it. I was feeling particularly discouraged the day I painted this and was even thinking of giving up painting entirely. After all, it takes a LOT of time, effort, and energy to paint, and all for what? It is the definition of "just for show." (I have a great deal more I could say about that now that I am in a different frame of mind, but back to the story.) So, I had taken this reference photo of a cat, and I had planned to paint it that day. I wasn't feeling it, but I decided to go ahead with it anyway and prayed and prayed that if God wanted me to be a painter that He would somehow cause me to know it. Lo and behold, the painting of this cat was one of the best painting experiences I have had to date! It was fun and fast and before I knew it I had finished it all in one sitting and loved it! Praise God, I'm a painter! And that is how it got its name. :)
The media provided to represent this painting are primarily from images captured in my own studio under white light. These images are taken prior to varnishing the painting, as varnish coats greatly increase the likelihood of light glare. However, it is important to note that varnish may also have the effect of enriching the colors and deepening contrasts. For this, and many other reasons noted elsewhere on this Site, it is vital to view the representation of the painting as the best attempt to give an overall sense of the painting and not as an identical reproduction.
